Bio
Adrian Small is a proud Navajo Nation member from Shiprock, New Mexico. Adrian started Arizona State University at age 16, earning his degree in Sociology and Urban Development before returning to the Navajo Nation to become an elementary history and sociology. Adrian's love for the Navajo Nation led him to get his PHD at UC Berkeley. Now, Adrian has settled in Phoenix, becoming an Associate Professor in 2018. Adrian is running to stand up against fascism that rose up starting in 2016 from the desecration of the National Monuments in the Southwest and is determined to run for the people of the 2nd district of Arizona., not the few.
Adrian believes that we need to protect the land as it is sacred to the Navajo People. Adrian wants to preserve natural resources and believes safeguarding these resources is important to preserve for future generations. Adrian has seen the effects of droughts in the Phoenix area and believes in preserving the land by investing in water rights and investing in renewable energy for the district.
Mass Shootings are an epidemic in this nation, and guns are getting into the hands of right-wing extremists. We need to ban all military-grade weaponry and require universal background checks on all gun purchases. Just like driving a car, Adrian believes in getting licensed to carry a gun at all times.
Adrian understands that people are struggling to live and believes in a minimum wage that is a minimum wage. Inflationary pressure shows advocating for a living wage of $25/hour would help increase affordability in housing.
